Le Paysage Romantique (The Romantic Landscape)

At the moment I am in a process where I can hardly stop working. After a trip to France I continued the work on Germantales but started also to think of the image or the imagination of the romantic landscape in general. The results are very surreal and fairy tale like.

Germantales - Portraits

Thanks Ben for your comment. Here are some more portraits from Germantales

Germantales

The last post was already a few weeks ago. I was very busy with creating new works. These are the first few photos from my new series called Germantales. This series is about the cliché of the romantic German landscape we know from paintings of Caspar David Friedrich. In some ways this cliché is still true, the works are full of beauty and romantic and the colors are either saturated or faded, in any case somehow unreal.

Australia

Here are some photographs from my second home Australia. I love to spend as much time as I can there and enjoy the cliché life of a surfers paradise. I love the vibrant life of Sydney and the beachside life of Forster, about 350 km north of Sydney, where my parents in law live. All photos in this post are from the series "The Classics"

Spring in Germany

Spring is in Germany and this is how it looks like. The trees are in full bloom and there is a row of about 40 of this beautiful white ones next to an old building. They look like little fake ones made for model railways, absolutely amazing.

Balloon Glow

On Good Friday we went to an event at the nearby castle where they set up their huge balloons and after sunset they brought them to glow with the rhythm of music by turning on the gas of the burners. It was an amazing and kind of surreal view to see these huge balloons in front of you and the castle in the background. Like in a cartoon where the dimensions somehow are out of order.

Thanks to Bruce for taking the photo

Daydreams or Mindmovies

This is the start of a new series, I always used to work with text in my non photographic work, so I used some works from many years ago and combined the text with my photographs of today and I think it works very well. The Text is like a cliché we have in mind when we find ourselves in situations we know very well from movies, novels or even we create them in our own imagination. That's why they are called daydreams or mindmovies.

Heavenly

These are the latest works from my series "Heavenly"

Dan McDermott

I would like to call your attention to the work of Dan McDermott. Dan's paintings are inspired from american movies, mainly from the 50`s and 60`s and show the typical stereotypes we associate with these times and the culture: big cars, street scenes, cross-fades in a fantastic photo realistic style. Check out Dan's work here

Sparky and Nelson

Nelson Santos has a wonderful project with his dog Sparky. Great artists contributed an artwork with the subject of Sparky or Nelson or both. I am happy to be part of this fantastic ongoing project. Check it out here

This is my contribution for Sparky and Nelson

Terri Weifenbach

Ben, a great photographer (check out his fantastic work here) called my attention to Terri Weifenbach. I really like her work a lot, the composition, the vibrant colors and the atmosphere of the photographs are amazing. Here is an example of her work.
