The Lake Unplugged

Empty, Lake Forggensee, Bavaria. From the series "The Lake Unplugged" © Michael Werner
This is the same lake as in the series "The Lake" as seen in the previous posted photos. From about October through June, the lake is more or less an empty shell, just a dried out bed. Hard to imagine that in the other time there are cruising boats operating, people are out with sailing boats, swimming and enjoying a great time in glass clear water.

Berlin

In 2011 a new park was opened in a quiet side street off Prenzlauer Allee in the scene district of Prenzlauer Berg. A special green space has been created on the site of the former St. Marien-St. Nicolai cemetery as the result of a neighbourhood initiative: It is possible to see not only the wild, overgrown character of nature here but also its former use of the park as a cemetery. For example, parts of graves as well as individual intact graves have been left here. And the strange thing is that it doesn’t put you off at all, but actually helps to make for a very special atmosphere in the park. Ideal, in fact, for going for a stroll and recharging your batteries. There are also some gaming offerings for kids to have fun!

New upcoming series: Frankfurt

I am working on a new series in the section "Cities". I already have a couple of cities in this section, Berlin, Strasbourg, Salzburg, Vienna, Paris Metz, New York is in the editing process.

In autumn a photo editor from Travel + Leisure Magazine contacted me and asked if I have some images from Frankfurt for an issue about this city. I went out and shot images to send him. But I have never heard anything back from him, even after asking if he received the link to a Dropbox folder especially created for him with the requested images, no answer at all. (no one even looked at the images). I find it actually very rude and not really very professional. But anyway, it is how it is.

This made me think, why not add the city I live nearby (only 20 min away) part of my body of work about cities.

So here are the first images from the upcoming series called Frankfurt.
