Artists Opportunity

Designers Against AIDS Creative Challenge is a great opportunity to gain exposure and raise awareness of the fight against AIDS.

Ninette Murk, former fashion journalist and founder of Designers Against AIDS is inviting creatives to submit photos, cartoons, etc. using elements of pop culture in order to help bring back the sexiness of safe sex. Safe sex is just as important now as it was twenty years ago and this is exactly what DAA is looking for.

The winning design will be used for global DAA ad campaigns.

This is truly a great opportunity for young artists to showcase their skills on a world scale as well as help bring awareness to a very important topic.

My new website is live now. I redesigned the entire site and uploaded new work from Australia.

In 2005 I started my series The Perfect Life. Last December I was back in Australia for a couple of weeks and continued working on it.

Incheon in Winter - new mini series on my website

On my flight back from Sydney I had an overnight stop over in Korea. I stayed in a very nice hotel in Incheon, near Seoul. This is where I did this mini series called "Incheon in Winter". It was a beautiful sight, everything was covered in snow and it was freezing cold. I guess it was also quite unusual for Korea, since the TV channels didn't report about anything else but the masses of snow.

Ruben Natal-San Miguel - New York, New York - The Concrete Jungle

Ruben Natal-San Miguel, founder and editor in chief of one of the most influential blogs about photography and one of the biggest enthusiasts and supporters of young photographers has a show with his own photographs from March 4 - April 10, 2010 at Kris Graves Projects in New York.

The show is called New York, New York - The Concrete Jungle.

For the past five years during the summer months, Ruben has traveled by bicycle througout Upper Manhattan, searching for what it's like to live in the Big Apple. For this is his chosen home, like many New Yorkers, Ruben is a transplant, eagerly coming to NYC to make his way in this School of Hard Knocks. As a trained architect he clearly sees both the concrete form and its human function, in particular, Ruben focused the viewer's eye on the unseen. In his exhibition, the overlooked citizens, and environments are his subject, these are things most people cannot or choose not to see. For, this is not the posh "Sex and the City" Manhattan which people clamor for, but here, Ruben has been able to find, a vibrant and colorful vision of that other Manhattan.

The show is curated by Matthew Pillsbury.

The show runs from March 4 through April 10.

Unless You Will is a new online journal, founded and curated by Heidi Romano. Heidi is a fine art photographer and art director from Melbourne, Australia.

Unless you will is a monthly published journal and showcases a vision within photo based art. The goal is to bring together a collection of notable photographers from around the world and present their work.

The current issue No.4 is a double issue in collaboration with Fabio Severo and includes 10 photographers from around the world.

The photographers in this issue are:

Culturehall

I am very happy that I got an invitation from David Andrew Frey, founder and director of CULTUREHALL, to join the community.

CULTUREHALL is a curated online resource for contemporary art where selected artists can share their work with curators, gallerists, collectors and other artists.

It's so great to be in a community with such a line up of wonderful artists. The curators of CULTUREHALL chose my series The Perfect Life which I started working on in 2005 in Australia. In December, January I spent again a couple of weeks in my second home Australia and continued working on this series. Below is a new photograph from December.

The Perfect Life Vol. 2

Last December I spend a couple of weeks in my second home Australia.

In 2005 I started my project The Perfect Life. I was more than happy that I could continue working on this project again. I don't know though if I will keep the title or choose as the new title "Forster-Tuncurry, NSW, Australia" instead.

The 50 States Project

Stuart Pilkington is a photographer and art photography curator from the United Kingdom.

He started The 50 States Project in January 2009. He selected 50 photographers from America to be part of the project.

Each photographer lives in one of the 50 States and represent the state where they currently live. Every two months they've got an assignment about a specific theme.

The themes are: people, habitat, landscape, industry, entertainment, the american dream

The project is now complete and you find 300 images who represent the talent of the photographer and tell you something about the USA today.

A great idea for a great project. Check it out and be curious what else Stuart has in his sleeves.
