Lands of Milk and Honey - End of year selection

2012 is almost over. It was a very productive year with lots of new projects and exiting travels.

To celebrate the festive season, I decided to put a small collection of photographs from my different projects together and show them in groups throughout the next couple of weeks.

Oliver Weber - Social Life at Beach

Oliver Weber's new and evolving series Social Life at Beach is a wonderful documentary about the touristic life on the Canary Islands of Spain. Every year hundreds of thousands of tourists, mostly from Germany, England and meanwhile also from Russia, take over the Canary Islands and turn them into the perfect object for observation on "social life at the beach" 

La Gomera based photographer Oliver Weber made this subject the theme for his newest series.

The result are captivating photographs that show this bizarre, surreal, sometimes melancholic and always fascinating world of tourism with all its side effects and cliches. 

Oliver Weber's Social Life at Beach will be exhibited as large scale prints in March 2013 at Galerie Lichtkreuzung in Munich, Germany.

Michael Lange - Wald

German photographer Michael Lange just published his first photo book. 

WALD (Forest) ist the title and subject of this beautiful book with photos full of mystery and magic.

Over a period of three years, Michael Lange wandered through Germany’s vast deciduous and coniferous forests, taking pictures with a sure sense of the places where childhood memories and sober documentations of nature blur. The mysterious photographs were taken off the beaten path, in the thickets and underbrush, at dusk or twilight. What was decisive for the cycle was the question of how the nature of stillness can be depicted in an image. The finest of nuances, shadows, and color gradients create thickly atmospheric compositions of concentrated clarity, conveying an experience characterized by the German Romantic word Waldeinsamkeit (woodland solitude). This publication traces the artist’s photographic tracks.

Michael Lange has been doing reportage photography and portraits for magazines and companies since the late seventies; since the end of the nineties he has devoted himself to his own projects.
