Two Way Lens and Nick Turpin

Two Way Lens proudly presents Nick Turpin.

It's again time for another interview on Two Way Lens.

I am very happy and excited that Nick Turpin joined the list of photographers who are already on the site.

I am a big fan of Nick's work and his passion and support for Street Photography is amazing and unique.

In 2000 Nick founded In-Public an International Street Photographers Group. In all this years In-Public has played a major role in bringing Street Photography to public attention. It has demonstrated that Street Photography is a unique, specific and very vital way of picturing the world.

For In-Publics 10th anniversary they published a photo book called "10"

'10' is published to commemorate ten years of the in-public international street photographers group and features ten images from each of the groups 20 photographers.

"10" can be ordered here.

Recently Nick finished the work on a film about street photography.

In-Sight - The film follows members of the in-public street photographers group shooting on the streets of New York, London, Melbourne and Rotterdam.

This is a must have for everyone interested in street-photography.

More of Nick's work can be found on his website.

The Two Way Lens interview can be found here.

Photograph for Justin Timberlake: Every Second Counts

Justin Timberlake has partnered with Talenthouse to ask all photographers to think what best represents the phrase ‘Every Second Counts.’

For Justin Timberlake’s upcoming movie In Time, who stars as Will Salas, a man who lives his life minute-to-minute. In a world where time is literally spent like money, the poor must be quick or they die—so every second counts.

Justin is asking photographers to capture a moment that almost could have been. The photo can be of anything and everything—Justin is looking for the most unique perspective that best embodies this poignant theme. Make it moving, touching, and original; there are no creative limitations.

The winner will receive global exposure and have their photograph featured as the official profile picture on Justin Timberlake’s Facebook page (with 12 million likes) for the month of November 2011.

The winning photograph will also be displayed in a pop-up gallery at the Premiere of In Time in Los Angeles along with being featured across Justin's social media channels, including his website.

More information about the competition can be found on Talenthouse.

Submission Deadline is October 10, 2011

HOTshoe Gallery London

Other I: Alec Soth, WassinkLundgren, Viviane Sassen

A great exhibition at the Hotshoe Gallery in London.

October 12 - November 27

Curated by Aaron Schuman

Faced with legitimate criticism during the latter half of the twentieth century, photography shifted from a medium often used to explore, explain and express the foreign and unfamiliar, to one used to examine, reveal and define oneself. In 1984, Andy Grundberg noted such a shift starting to occur specifically within documentary practice, ‘…towards recording the “I” instead of the “Other”, centering itself on what the photographer's life is rather than on what it is not…’. This exhibition features several prominent contemporary practitioners who are cleverly redressing this balance by merging direct encounters with the ‘Other’ into forms of self-exploration, self-revelation and subtle autobiography, equally emphasising what is in front of the camera – the ‘Other’ – and what is behind it – the ‘I’.

More Info about the exhibition can be found here.
